Privacy policy

The short version

• There are no accounts and no logins on this site.
• There is no newsletter and no mailing list.
• We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone.
• Two third parties see something when you visit: Google Analytics, and Amazon if you click a buy link.
• If you email us or use the contact form, we use your address to reply and for nothing else.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. It records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device and browser you used, and how you arrived. It also records when someone clicks a buy link, so we can tell which recommendations people act on — that event carries the page path and the destination, not anything about you.

Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on Google’s infrastructure under Google’s privacy policy. We have not enabled advertising features, remarketing audiences or Google Signals. You can block it with any tracker-blocking extension or browser setting and the site works identically — nothing here depends on analytics loading.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, topic and message you type are emailed to us and are not stored in any database. The form also sends a timestamp of when the page loaded, and includes a hidden field that real people never fill in — both are anti-spam measures and neither identifies you. Your IP address is used only to rate-limit submissions and is held in memory, not written to disk.

We use your email address to reply. It is not added to a list, because there is no list.

Affiliate links

When you click a buy link, you pass through a redirect on this domain and then land on Amazon with our affiliate tag attached. Amazon sets its own cookie so it can attribute a purchase to us. That cookie is Amazon’s, governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, and we cannot read it.

We never see what you bought, or whether you bought anything. Amazon reports aggregate commissions to us, not individual orders or customers. Full detail on how the links work is in the affiliate disclosure.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs including IP addresses for a limited period as part of operating the service. We do not use those logs for analytics or profiling. See Vercel’s privacy policy.

What we do not do

• No advertising networks, ad cookies or retargeting pixels.
• No social media tracking pixels.
• No selling, renting or sharing of personal data. Ever.
• No profiles or automated decision-making about individuals.
• No data collection from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. In practice we hold almost nothing: if you have emailed us, we hold that email.

To ask for it to be deleted, email info@fanandfrost.com and we will do it and confirm. For analytics data, Google’s own controls and any tracker blocker are the effective route, since we cannot identify an individual visitor in that data to remove.

Cookies, in one paragraph

Fan & Frost sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies, and Amazon sets an attribution cookie if you click through to it. Blocking all cookies leaves this site fully functional; it only means we cannot count the visit, and it may mean Amazon does not attribute a purchase to us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — a new third party, a new category of data — will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
